On August 2017, the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan announced funding to upgrade the Town of Eastend’s water treatment facility.
Construction on the project began in early June of 2020. Work involves building a new water treatment plant, water reservoir and associated works. The Eastend Water Treatment Plant Upgrade Project was completed in August 2021. The new Water Plant will support the Town’s economic growth and development, improve the quality of drinking water and help protect local waterways and ecosystems for years to come.
The estimated total cost of this project is $8-million. Under the New Building Canada Fund program, the Government of Canada will be contributing up to $2,178,333 to the project, the Government of Saskatchewan will also be contributing up to $2,178,333, and the Town of Eastend will fund the remainder.
